Aspergillosis is a fungal infection caused by aspergillus mold found in soil, plants, dust, and decaying matter. Most people breathe in spores without problems, but in weak immunity or lung disease it can cause illness. Types include allergic aspergillosis where lungs react with coughing, wheezing, asthma-like symptoms. Chronic aspergillosis leads to cavities in lungs, weight loss, tiredness, coughing blood. Invasive aspergillosis is serious, spreading quickly in organs, causing fever, chest pain, breathing difficulty. Diagnosis done by scans, blood tests, sputum culture. Treatment may need antifungal medicines for long term, sometimes surgery in severe cases.
