Okay, random question: I keep seeing posts about athletes taking baking soda before workouts to go harder/last longer. Is that actually a thing or just gym bro nonsense?
 
It’s actually a thing! It’s called bicarbonate loading. The idea is that it helps buffer the acid that builds up in your muscles during high-intensity workouts, so you can push a bit longer before fatigue hits.
